How to Measure the Effectiveness of a Local Website?

Audio_Recording_55.mov Listen on Posterous

Hello everyone! Someone asked this forum question:

How to Measure the Effectiveness of a Local Website?

Here is the response:

Is this a site you have already built?

Or does the client already have a site?

I usually ask a client what the one action they want a visitor to their website is. It is usually a phone call…but not always. It might be an opt in, or whatever.

Then you find out how many calls they are already getting from the website. And try to grow that number.

How do you get clients into Google Places?

Hello everyone! Someone asked this question in a forum:

How do you get clients into Google Places?

Here is RK’s reply:

I would set up a Google Account for them and use that account for everything having to do with Google…

i.e. Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, etc

And just let them know that Google will send them a post card and to let you know when they get it.

How does an unverified listing get into position “A” and a verified listing get listed way down on page 2?

Audio_Recording_53.mov Listen on Posterous
Hello everyone! Someone asked this questions in a forum:

How does an unverified listing get into position “A” and a verified listing get listed way down on page 2?

Here is RK’s Response:

Google Places listings get ranked according to Relevance, Prominence and Distance.

Relevance- Is how relevant that Place page is to the search term
Prominence- Is how authoritative that site is according to Google.
Distance- Is how close that business is to the search being made.

I got this from a video put out by Google. So if an unverified page meets those 3 better than the other verified page it gets put higher.

Hello everyone! Someone asked this questions in a forum:

What is the minimum one must know before you sell yourself offline?

Here is Rk’s Response:

I agree with everyone else in this post.

You just need to know a little more than your prospect.

In a room full of questions the one with the answer is the leader. If you have basic knowledge of marketing you already know more than a lot of businesses out there.

How Much is a Lead Worth to a Business?

Audio_Recording_51.mov Listen on Posterous
Hello everyone! Someone asked this question in a forum:

How Much is a Lead Worth to a Business?

Here is RK’s Response:

If a Business owner has done their homework they will know the cost to get a customer and the cost to get a lead and can pay you accordingly.

For example…

100 leads convert at 2% for a $100 product means for every 100 leads you will make $200.They will make $2 per lead.

If they pay you $1 per lead they will still be making a $1 themselves.

Do you have to supply landline phone number for local google listing?

Hello everyone! Someone asked this question in a forum:

Do you have to supply landline phone number for local google listing?

Here is my Response:

Just adding my 2 cents here…

The phone number isn’t that big of a deal anymore.

As they don’t do phone verification anymore. I use a cell phone in all of my listings.

But I agree, hiding the address will affect the rankings. I’ve also always used my home address and never had anyone knock on my door.

Should I start an offline business using a .net domain or a .co domain?

Audio_Recording_47.mov Listen on Posterous
Hello Everyone! Someone asked this question in a forum:

Should I start an offline business using a .net domain or a .co domain since most people might be confuse and use a .com email address so they will go to email@domain.com and domain.net.?

Here is my Response:

Then here’s the transcript:

I don’t think the email@domain.net would be that big of a problem.

The .co email will be much more confusing. Did you use WhoIs to find out who owned the parked domain and contact them to see if you could buy it from them?

I have done that before.

Hello everyone! Someone asked this question a forum:

Should I make facebook pages for local business for money?

Here is the Response:

If you’re wondering what to do to start and grow an offline marketing business I will be starting what I’m going to call the “90 Day Challenge” soon.

It’s a 12 week course that will teach you everything and it will be Free Training.

I’m just going to ask people to make a donation to a Charity that I’m a part of. Should be starting in a month, or so.

Outsourcing lead generation for web design?

Audio_Recording_46.mov Listen on Posterous
Hello everyone! Someone asked this question in a forum:

Is it a good idea to post a job on odesk for a lead generation for my web design company?

Here is my Response:

I think hiring a few commission based business to business sales reps will be great for your company.

I would say to make sure you provide them some good training and what not.

I don’t know about oDesk.I would probably put an ad up on craigslist in your local area.

Google Places - Suggestions for finding clients?

Audio_Recording_44.mov Listen on Posterous
Someone asked this question in a forum:

Here is my Response:
I use the Local Lead Maximizer software to find all of the unverified Google Place pages and then use a bunch of different strategies to contact those business owners, i.e. emails, post cards, DVDs, Cold Calling.

The software also can check for the Google Pack and find the unverified listings in the Google Pack who have been pre-ranked, pre-SEOed and are already getting traffic. Should be an easy sell from there.
